Hi. I just saw your posting of your KZ1100 - nice job. I brought an '82 KZ 1100 into Australia a while back and have been fully restoring it with Z1 front spokes and instrument etc and purchased a Z1 duck tail which fits the frame perfectly but shortens the seat area - so was wondering what was done to your bike to take the tail AND the seat? I'm assuming the duck tail sits further back on your frame than the natural position with the tails side recesses fitting over the shocks mounting bolts?
Would you put up a photo please of the frame detail showing the duck tail positioning please? I was about to cut down two seat pans and rejoin them to make the right length which would leave a solo seat - which is fine but when i saw your bike thought I would ask what was done on your bike as well.
