Good news. Took the starter out, and tested. It did not work. Rebuilt it, now it works. now to finish cleaning up bike and testing it out all together.
Any idea what kind of glue one could use to re-glue the magnet to the wall of the starter? I have some titebond 3 wood glue in there. figured, well, worth a shot. lol.
