79 kz650 d2 bare bones wiring diagram

Making first attempt to rewire bike and it would be a lot easier with with a "bare bones" kz650 d2 specific diagram. If anyone could help that'd be great. I've got the Clymer manual with wrong color wires in their diagram compared to my bike and have downloaded countless other diagrams and such. Thanks

If you still have your stock harness attached id just start by removing things you don't need and go from there

If you are going to re-wire it, and you think you may use a Dyna S in the future, now would be a good time to convert to 3-phase charging system. That means a 3-phase stator and 3-phase combo reg/rec.

Do you have a link to the diagrams you are using? I don't recall seeing major inconsistencies on 1979 Kz650 D2 diagrams (there are often minor ones). Is there a chance your bike is something other than a 79 KZ650 D2 ? Or are you saying someone else re-wired it once already?

Just trying to get it running at this point. Made some progress but now when I hit and let go of starter button it wont stop trying to start unless I hit the kill switch

:blink: .... This is a momentary switch design so you must have something not wired correctly...
Probably best you insert and post your wiring diagram you used...
