So I rewired all of the indicator bulbs and turn signals and brake lights. They all work except for the head light and bright lights?!
I didn't touch the headlight except to disconnect it.. I did use fork brackets instead of the stock mount.. Any suggestions on what to check? The filaments also look good as well 82 440 ltd |

Get a multimeter set on Ohms at the lowest settings, and with the three prong socket disconnected from the bulb, do a continuity check. When checking the voltage, put the meter on VDC(Volts, Direct Current)range of 20, with the RED probe on either of the bulb socket connectors, and you should have battery voltage(depending on how the high and low beam switch is configured.
The BLACK probe goes on the terminal with Black with Yellow stripe wire as it's part of the chassis ground(or Earth, as some people list it). |

So I checked. I'm getting ~ 12 on red/yellow and when I switch to brights it goes away and I get 12 on red and black.. Assuming its the bulb then?

Got a spare bulb to check the function with? It looks to me to be a bad bulb, if voltage is at the socket. When handling the bulb, wipe off the fingerprint oils with rubbing alcohol, otherwise the sodium in the oils will shorten the bulbs life.

Mfolks.. Thanks! I don't have a spare bulb but hoping I can pick one up somewhere this afternoon. I got the meter from harbor freight on sale:))maybe I'll be lucky with the bulb..
Nobody.. As far as ground at socket? I'm not sure. I used the negative terminal in the black wire socket so I assumed that was it. Edit. Just realized the whole thing is one unit and not just a bulb with a lens:( |

Nevermind. Found the fuse box.. Fuse looked good.. Put meter on it. Jiggled wires under tank and headlight came on.. There's a loose wire somewhere..

I think I would chase down the loose connection for that headlight. Otherwise you may be riding along on a curvy dark road when the light goes out. Even if you can switch to the other beam quickly, this experience is not one you will want to repeat. Ed

Now the healmdlight/brights work and now my bright indicator doesn't:( always something:) |
