It also keeps the crank case evacuated thus it runs cooler.

There are a lot of advantages, including performance (low crankcase pressure reduces resistance of pistons on the down-stroke), and, of course, emissions output.

I take it you know where I'm coming from with the annoyance of an open crankcase vent?

Yes, I do. If you have the time, could you take some pics and write a short description/parts list, so as I can replicate it on my 750?

It would also be a good addition to the file base. (The new admin team here at KZR is in the process of editing and repairing the KZR file base, a large grouping of informative PDFs and so on on particular KZ issues, upgrades, maintenance and tech)

Sure, let me put it together.

Question for everybody on the forum?

If a PCV kit like I described was an option to include with a set of K&N pod filters, would you pay an extra $50?

This is it on my '82 KZ1000-K2.

Heater hose and universal clamps at the vent port, a large Tee, through Motion Pro fuel hose, to elbows, then to tees between the pods, then elbows into grommets at the back of the pods. The trick is to maintain the OEM ID of the vent port throughout the network so as not to produce a restriction. And, keeping everything horizontal or on a decline to eliminate oil pooling.

The way I designed it no one would ever notice unless you pointed it out.

Thanks, Steve. Every part of this bike project has been tough, but still worth the effort!

It's funny. I go to Strokers, the biggest biker bar in Texas filled with HDs, and my KZ draws a crowd.

If it's OK, I'm gonna start a new thread on my crankcase vent setup. I'd really like to get some feedback.

Thanks for all the replies. I will stay with the stock air box. I want a stock bike that runs strong and well. The experience here is awesome.

Though my carbs are far from stock, I went back to a air box. You won't be disappointed.
