Motion pro makes an adjustable throttle for drag racing that will go to WOT in a 1/4 turn. They also have one that has swappable cams so you can adjust how quickly it goes to WOT, I.E., 1/4 OR 1/2 turn.

I used a quick throttle for several years on my BSA, but got rid of it. The problem was bumps or potholes. When I would hit one that I was not totally prepared for I would find the front wheel of the bike shooting skyward because the slightest twitch on the throttle would open the carbs wide open. Depending on the road and the amount of traffic that can get your heart pumping! If you put one on the bike be aware of that issue. ;) Ed

I've ran a cheap Motion Pro single cable 1/4 turn
with a light return spring with my VM29's for about
two years and love it.
1980 KZ650 F1
ZX750A1 motor.
Wiseco 810cc kit.
Zukiworks racing ported head.
VM 29 smooth bore's.
Dyna 2000 Ign. w/Dyna mini coil's
APE cylinder stud's and nut's.
APE valve spring's.
APE Track King clutch.
V/H KZ1000 sidewinder.
3.5x18 laced to a KZ1000 disk hub.
150/60/18 Shinko 006 Podium.
63" wheel base.

If I were using the bike for street and strip, I would go with the one with interchangeable cams. This is the one I was referring to: www.motosport.com/motion-pro-revolver-throttle-kit

I ordered a Venhill throttle.I'm familiar with excessive throttle response on a road bike.I had a '71 650 Yamaha(new) and it had the same sensitivity,but on a race bike it's all about throttle response in the corners.I'll let you know how it works.I think some of the sticky throttle return could be to do with a 35 year old throttle assembly even though I've had it apart numerous times.

Would heed this important advice from BlackZ1R.

As I recall, there's a small locator screw into the bottom of each jet block that keeps the jet block orientated in its correct position inside the carb bore. The screw is not centered, and if overtightened can skew the jet block enough out of position to cause the throttle slide to rub against the jet block.

Those are 33mm smooth bores. You most likely won't find a rebuild kit for them. It's possible to find individual parts for them through Z1 Enterprises and ebay vendors. You're looking are bowl gaskets, top cover gaskets, fuel tube O-rings, enrichener O-rings, air screw o-rings, and needles and seats. New jets from Sudco, or Z1 Entp.
