Stuck intake boots

Hey everyone
I noticed the screws to my carb intake boots are stuck. I believe they are just overtightned and not rusted into the engine. If I try to remove them with the JIS screwdriver it will probably strip the screws. I've tried using penetration oil and I've tried freezing the screw to get it out. Does anyone know a way to take the screw out of the engine without stripping anything?

Kroil is what I've used to free up my bike's intake boot screws. Apply heat(usually a hair dryer on high gets hot enough), & then the Kroil, let it work for a few days. Replace the screws with SS socket head cap screws(Allen Head). Before installation, and to prevent galling, put a little of the silver anti-seize on the new screws first few threads, it will make working on them easier next time.

Thanks MFolks. I've been trying to find kroil in my auto parts store and local hardware stores but they don't seem to carry it so I've been using Liquid wrench and PB blaster. Do you know where I would be able to buy some?

I'd ask around before ordering online, as it's pressurized aerosol, and probably needs to travel by ground transport.

Maybe Amazon.com can help you, or here at Kroil's website:

Here's the Kroil I bought (see the 10th section down on the Kano Labs Order Form at secure.cnchost.com/kanolabs.com/orders/order.shtml It isn't an aerosol, it's just liquid in a can with a thin spout.

Kroil 1/2 pint (8 oz.) can - $9.25 ea.

I soaked those screws for 3 days and used my JIS (modified Phillips) bits and those carb holder screws came out without deforming the screw heads at all - even though they were very tight. They had not ever been removed in 30 years.

Another place you may find it locally is at a gun show or possibly a gun shop. Ed
