hello again everyone,
i have a broke post in the number #3 carb on my 82 kz1000J( i didnt break it my awsome local shop did me that favor) :angry: which is letting it leak becouse the float needle wont seal. my question is- were would be a good place to get carbs? and should i hunt for factory carbs or is there something beter out there rebonding the post maybe?

JBWeld, properly used, will repair the post and withstand continuous immersion in gasoline.

thanks i didnt know jb weld would take the gas and i didnt want anything breaking down in there

maybe jb weld is the only answer, aluminum is not easy to weld. another alternative would be a screw or small bolt with a helicoil.

It probably could be welded also but jb weld should be sufficent.

What are carbs made out of?

Good 'ol pot-metal

Except for smoothbores (and perhaps some others) -- aluminum.

JB Weld didn't work for me. Flat slides. Probably my err. It crumbled when the gas touched it. Sent the carb out and had the post replaced. The shipping cost as much as the repair.

I had a post break on me. I pinned it and used gas tank repair epoxy to hold it in place. Still holding after a couple of years.
