A 12" length of clear plastic tubing with same o.d. as o.d. of the drain screw threads will "self-thread" into the drain screw hole and permit testing service float bowl fuel level.
There's also a fitting on ebay for less than $10 that's similar to the factory tool, basically a normal drain screw adapted with a nipple and clear hose. Good Luck! |

I just did mine this last weekend with the tool from the eBay seller. It's worth every penny. I'm sure you could get by jamming some clear tubing into the hole too, but the one that threads in is just really nice to have, especially for a fairly cheap price (when compared to the factory tool).

The e-bay float tool works good. I have also took the tip off of a Papermate ink pen, thread it into the bowl drain hole and attach a clear hose.

With the "correct" size o.d. clear tube (i.e., tube o.d. about same as drain hole i.d.), simply self-thread the tube into the drain hole, which works fine and doesn't leak.
Carry the float bowl along when shopping for clear tube. Test fit before purchasing. Or splurge by getting a couple of different o.d. size 1 foot lengths. This of course refers to common soft flexible clear tubing, and not a rigid plastic pea-shooter type tube. Good Fortune! |
