Just replaced the clutch on my 73 Z1 (1075cc) with the APE HD clutch. My question is about the 5 bolts that hold the clutch springs and hub in place. Clymer says tighten each equally, but it doesn't say how much. Do you compress the spring all the way or a certain number of turns? Any help would be appreciated!

Tighten each bolt is roughly equal steps until they bottom out.

Be sure to hit the torque spec in the service manual - don't just bottom the bolts out.

Page 6-39 of the KZ1000/KZ1100 Kawasaki Service Manual (1st link below) gives torque specs and info on tightening the clutch spring bolts. Also, page 72 of the KZ1000 Kawasaki Service Manual (2nd link below) gives torque specs and info on tightening the clutch spring bolts. I suggest you take a look at both references before deciding how much torque to apply to your bike's clutch spring bolts. Ed
