Newbie here. I started re-building a basket case from a bare

frame up. Ready to bolt engine halves together but I think something is missing. There are 2 bosses inside with a through hole in the case next to it. I attached a picture. Hope someone can help. Thanks in advance.

Secondary shaft and starter clutch. Sounds like you need a factory service manual.

Those bosses hold the idler gear for the starter.

BTW, you need to clean the case surfaces better before reassembly. That black remnant material is the silicone from the factory. A gray scotchbite pad works well to clean it off but you need to reclean the cases after using scotchbrite because it will give off grit fragments.

That was my guess. I do have the factory service Manuel but it didn't show it. By the way, I tried on another forum, they directed me to you. Thanks Nessism and I will be asking for your help again I am sure.
