Master mechanics! The oil drain plug on my '81 KZ550 went missing! Uh oh! (Too many parts to keep track of during engine rebuild.) Does anyone know what size bolt that is, and if I can just grab it from the hardware store?

You need the proper bolt. It has a flat shoulder so the crush gasket washer has a nice surface to seat against.

The auto parts store might have a metric oil drain plug. I've gotten metric aluminum gaskets there.

From the diagrams at Partzilla it's an M12. 92066-1174. PLUG,OIL DRAIN,12X15. w photo.
