Good luck!

Did you work from underneath or put the bike on it's side? Never done this in-frame, always seems a very awkward job even when the motor is on the bench. I even heard of a bike turned upside down to do it! :S

swest: There is no chain associated with the starter. The primary chains typically outlast the rest of the bike.

Careful with that ax Eugene! :woohoo: :woohoo:

Alright so finally got everything out of the motor. Ended up buying the clutch removal tool and was nice and quick after that. I've been waiting for the site to get back and running before I start ordering everything.

This is the gear with the little grooves on there. Still has some on there. Should this be replaced?

And as far as this guy, all I need are the 3 springs and parts that go in there, correct?

Looking around for the gear, where can I buy one new? Seeing some used ones all over, but rather start brand new with one since I'm in there now, Any ideas?

Being they are so hard to get to, I'd have to agree.

Ok so I'm going to buying the gear new, figured I would be!
Is that I'm going to need for this job, the gear and the spring assembly (x3)?

From what I've been reading, it seems like that all that would cause this issue, but want to make sure before I order it all and then have to need something else. Thanks for all your help!

Ill be doing the exact same job soon, and i ordered the sprocket (12046-1032) the clutch assembly (13193-1062) and the needle bearing/race (92046-056)... all brand new, from cheapcycleparts.com, all arrived genuine kawa parts.

ill also be ordering a oil pan gasket, oil filter and buying 4t JASO oil locally....

based off all my research on here and other sites, the job isnt something you want to do again, so if you can, go all new parts....

if you decide to rebuild your starter clutch and not but new, the rebuild kit consists of 92122-004 x 3 (rollers), 92043-087 x 3 (pins), and 92081-110 x 3 (srings)

sometimes you can find that rebuild kit on ebay, not sure if thats cheaper, but i know that the site above got me genuine kawa parts, and folks around here will tell you, thats what you want....

Guess I was too slow and lost out again. Ordered the clutch assembly from Cheap cycle Saturday (28th) and got a e mail today from them saying sorry but its on back order with no ET of A from Kawasaki but may be updated at a later date.

The gear I didn't check on cause Z Power "said" they mailed mine on the 21st. Still waiting and after the last 9 months I'm not holding my breath till its in my hand either. Was way over priced with the currency difference and shipping so I don't really recommend them unless its a last resort.

A few things you guys might be not thinking about is needing a new clutch hub nut, thrust washers for the basket and a gasket for the clutch cover housing. Thinking there was a few o rings too for mine anyway (650) vs (your 750s could be diff). 2 90mm and a 46mm on mine and 3 oil passage o rings too.

I just replaced my clutch plates last year so I'm set there but you guys may be able to clean up yours and be fine. Would defently replace the springs though since you'll have it apart.

Good thread and I'm following this as I have this to do soon.

KZB2 if it is z power uk I would recommend them. Dave is an expert in these bikes and was working at a kawi dealership form the early 80's. You can't really blame them for currency rates, postage and import duties. My last parcel of kawasaki bits from USA came from a member here and took a month to arrive.
