Well, that didn't work

Hi Guys
just did a valve job on my 1991 KZ1000 Police. When I was gathering up the necessary gaskets Z1 didn't have the cup shaped O ring seals for the 4 corners that go between the cylinders and the head. After reading here, I used the black sealer instead. You guessed it. Leaks like a stuck pig. So, I pull it apart. While removing the cams I broke 3 cam holder bolts. Even some of the ones that I could remove felt kinds of springy (is that a word?) before they came loose. I've had the cam out a few times and never had any problems before.I used the proper torque. I wonder why just this time. I never use any lubricants on the threads. Should I?
I'm taking the head to a machine shop to have the remaining portion of the bolt removed and I order all new bolts.
Oh and I also ordered new proper U cup seals and don't expect any big issues.
So what do you think? Never Sieze?

Its wierd, I have heard many stories about Kawasaki engine bolts shearing off.Matter of fact I sheared off the studs that hold the caps on at the bottom of the front forks, maybe Kawasaki used low quality studs.I would ask the machine shop to put in higher quality/grade studs, the studs strech when they are torqued properly so alot of bolts and studs are pretty much a one shot deal.I would replace with new ones whenever possible.Thay are fairly cheap.
Hope you get it sorted out,Tariff
