81 GPZ 1100 Turbo
16 Jun 2013 01:28
Well... a few weeks ago, I posted that I have been selling off my bikes, and I have sold 1... and now I find a new one came home. A 1981 GPZ1100 Turbo. Maybe someone here will recognize it, since it is a SoCal bike.
Bike runs great, very smooth and engine is quiet. The only downside i noticed is it weeps a bit but after a few short rides and parking it, only one drop on the floor...
I'm not used to the turbo, pretty dull, then it kicks in about 5,500rpm and you feel it. Pushed 8lbs and I came no where near redline.
I will be calling the shop that just finished the new top end just a month or so ago on Monday. Waiting on more info.

Thanks - the bike is nice, no doubt. The paint is new, the top end is new, I have been trying to figure out who's swingarm that is?
The only running 1100s that I have are police bikes, which are smooth, but this thing is incredibly smooth... sounding, running and riding, especially compared to the big bore drag bike, the Vetter and my supercharger. Fires up in touch a quick push (Dual battery system, so may have a the Paul Cashio starter?
I am not all that comfortable with the turbo lag, since I ride old bikes and drive old cars, I tend not to wind them out to much, so when the boost kicks in about 5500 in first... seems to maintain boost once engaged, so quicker in the next gears... I guess age is catching up with me, as once this thing starts moving... spaces seems limited.
If anyone wants to make this bike a better home... let me know. It may only sit and collect dust here.
