Hey Folks, i`ve posted this a few days ago but i think my post has been deleted accidently when the site-admin installed some updates to the forum-software. So,I will post it again ...
My dad owned 2 Kawasaki 440LTDs, he bought the second one as a donor for spare-parts. But his original LTD didnt need any parts and my step-mom needed space in the garage. So she told him to get rid of this bike. But nobody wanted it, not even as a gift free of charge. I think its because the LTD440 is one of the ugliest bikes ever made....
So he asked me and i decided to give it a go, I didnt want to build a cafe-racer because of its frame, the rear-end is just not flat enough . And rebuilding the whole rear-frame is beyond my skills and it would not be road-legal afterwards. My goal was to create some classc looking bike, nothing agressive or too scrambler-ish.
i dissasembled the whole thing , sanded down the forks and the wheels before polishing and repainting them. I shortened the frame a bit. dissasembled the engine and took care of the Valves. The bearings in front of the frame ( i dont know whats the english word for it) were a bit wonky so they needed to be changed as well. there is new oil in the fork and new shocks on the rear. I installed a new speedometer and got rid of the original one. I am quite pleased with the result an i hope you like it too

Nice to see you and your nice bike here again after the site update.
I saw you thread was lost after that.
I am from Germany too,(a little town near Dortmund).
Your are right the TÜV (technical test centers for vehicles in Germany)
have sometimes a really crazy bureaucracy.

Hey, is this your BIke? I had contact to the Guy who did buildt it. It was one of my sources of inspiration but i think he sold it shortly after we had contact. Are you the buyer?

Both are great looking examples of mods to the KZ440 LTD. Those things are tough to make look good and both those bikes look great.
