Cool :)
Where can i find pictures ?

I`m a new beginner in bike game.. hehe but I want to learn :)
So I bought these bike these winter, plan before summer is to get in techncial good shape so I can have alot of fun in the summer :)
And then start serious work after summer season during the winter time, it`s to close to the summer now :)

1. I have ordered alot of parts to the carbs for a weeek ago, so I`m waithing for them... to come.. and then rebuild the carbs.

2. Gas tank is now finish cleaned with phosphoric acid, I added some new fresh gas and injected some oil, since it gonne stored to my carbs is finish. Looks really nice inside now, it has been yellow som places think it is the acid who has done it.

3. While waithing for carbs part will I try to get the valve adjusting perfect. Need to read more about :), and I also need to by a new tools with higher resolution when it comes to measurement.

What kind of carbs do you have? VM24's? What ever you do do NOT blindly install a bunch of crappy "carb kit" parts. Bust down all the carbs and clean them in carb dip or an ultrasonic cleaner. Then rebuild them with new O-rings, recycling your old Mikuni jets. Jets rarely wear out, they just need to be cleaned well. Aftermarket jets are often different from your originals so be very careful if changing anything.

Thank you your advise, It`s mosly o-rings, gaskets, and fastnings screw I`m going to replace. The jets will be reused.
The only thing I will replace who can have a effect is the mix screw, I thinkg I have found a identical will verify carefully before I install it.

I try collect evertyting i Do with the bike on these page.

Gas Tank:
I have now removed corrosion in the gas tank with phosphoric acid, the result was good.
But the paint outside the tank dident like gas over time... so I will do some temp. paiting on the tank so I can use ut for the summer seasion,
and do a proper paint in the winter, want to paint the whole bike then...
See attached pictures.

Compression test
As you can see above have I done compression test, with cheap ebay tools... so I don`t trust the numbers.
But the bike was running fin on idle so I hope it`s good enough.... ?

Carbs:
I have clean the carbs and replaced all o-rings, gasket, mix screw and screws.
See attached pictures.

Valves clearance:
I have measured the valve clearnes and order new shims.
I also order new gasket for the valve cover.

Summary:
When I bought the bike was running fine on idle, but when you gave throttle is was not good.
So I have started with clean carbs and adjust the valvue, so lets hope it will solve the problem, and I will be able to run the bike fin for the summer .... ?? :)

The only thing I don`t have checked is the timing on ignition, and I don`t have planned todo it.

Today have I adjusted the valve clearance, and I was doing a mistake when it comes to posistion of the cams... The chain was jumping beacuase I had removed the tensioner... So I needed to follow the manual when it comes to timing... Hope I have done it correct ?

1. turned first the crank to 1-4 T, see attached picture.
2. Pulled the cam chain tight in the front and then install the exhaust cam so Z7EX point against the gasget, see attached picture.
3. Install the intake cam with the IN mark between the 45th and 46'th pin, see attached picture.

I also used information from Nessism from another post on the forum as guideline.

And then I installed the auto tensioner.

I have also installed some new gasget for the timing house and the charger? house, there was not any gasket on these two covers before, water can come in... ?

I tried to run the engine with the start engine, it was running without any bad sound, so hopefully have the job been sucessfull hehe :)

So now is the next step to install the carbs and try to fire up :) and do some carb tuning, hopefully will I be abel to get the engine running smoth on all RPM... since these was the reason I started all these work :)

You mention the cam chain skipping/ jumping? how many teeth did it skip on the cam chain sprocket? Just be aware if you skip too many teeth the valves can be damaged.

Last time I had the valve cover off for measure valves for orderings shims I put som marker on the chain before I took of the cams for measaure the shims. But now last time when I repalced the shims to get correct clearnes I removed the tensioner first (mistake...) so when I turned the motor gently with a wrench on the crankshaft the chain jump some teth... maybe 5-6, but I stopped moving the engine more after that and I took of the cams and followed the proceure for getting correct timing...

I hope I don`t have damage the valves... a compression test will show me that ?? but I only have a cheap ebay compressor tester.. and last time I tested it got bad numbers... so I dont`t trust it.. the engine was running smothn on idle before I started to clean the carbs and adjust the valves...

Thank you for using time on me....
