If you just want a seat cover, here's one I'm thinking of getting. It has Kawasaki stenciled on the rear, similar to the stock seat. I already recovered a spare 750 Ltd seat w a nos Travelcade/saddlemen/saddle-skins seat cover which is now on the bike, but I'd like to put the original seat back on the bike w the stenciled cover. Recovering a seat is kind of a pain, but doable.

eb --- Motorcycle seat cover - Kawasaki KZ650CSR --- UK seller ... probably available on eb UK

I forget the seller on ebay but he makes a lot of vintage covers. 35$. If you want the name I can look it up, but the product was A++++, nice supple thick padded codura vinyl. Stitching and fit was perfect. A tip I would say is if your seat pan has any damage get a metal upholstery rail to rivet to the pan. The old tines even when not rusted will be brittle and weak. Most times the stock foam and pans are fine for reworking with upholstery. R

These are great guys to deal with. Even if you don't buy from them you may find some inspiration for a DIY project.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationThank you all for the information, have not found the look I want for my bike, I`m looking at pictures, but for the seat I think I want to have something like these :

temp.dynamitt.net/div/MC/01.JPG

I`m open for inputs, don`t think I want to have the orginal seat.

I can see people ar cutting of the frame behind and welding new 180 degress bend ?

Some hind the battery inside the end of the seat ?

When I`m looking at pictures of cafe racers I often don`t see the tag plate .... I need to have it :)

While I`m waithing for parts to rebuild the carbs have I today done a compressor test and valve clearance measurements.

C1 = 6.2 bar = 90 psi
C2 = 6.2 bar = 90 psi
C3 = 5.8 bar = 84 psi
C4 = 6.3 bar = 91 psi

Valve 1 = 0,25 mm
Valve 2 = 0,30 mm
Valve 3 = 0,15 mm
Valve 4 = 0,15 mm
Valve 5 = Was not able to get 0,15mm in.
Valve 6 = 0,20 mm
Valve 7 = Was not able to get 0,15mm in.
valve 8 = 0,10 mm

What do you think about the test results ?

Low compression figures.
Was the engine warm and did you hold the throttle wide open ?

On my 1980 750/4 the valve clearances should be 0.08 to 0.18mm (.003 to .007 inches I think) so most of those measurements you posted would be way out.
What does your manual say?

Please describe how you did the compression test. It should be done with all spark plugs out; the engine warmed up to normal operating temperature (the pistons are tapered toward the top and must be warmed up to expand); throttle wide open; fully charged battery; etc. Ed

Hi,
The carbs is not mounted, all sparks plugs what out.
I attached the compression tester to each cylinder and let the start motor run until the pressure was not increasing any more.

The motor was cold duo to rebuild the carbs...
So cold motor has a big impact ? I must then re test when I got my carba installed again.

Thank you for your inputs.

Those compression numbers are low but you have a bunch of tight valves so that isn't helping. Also understand that often times the compression will be low on an engine that has been sitting for some time. I'd adjust the valves, clean the carbs, and get the bike running. Then give the bike an Italian Tune Up for a few hundred miles and then check compression again. Dollars to donuts the compression numbers improve.

Thank you for inputs, yes I cleanred the gas tank today. Have ordered part for the carbs, so while waiting for parts for the carbs I will focus on the valves, I need to read more to see if I have mesaure correct and also learn how to adjust them :)
