Picked up this beauty of Craigslist last summer, been slow going. It appears to have sat in a field for the last 15-20years. I have since getting it: Got it running after installing a dynatek ignition, rebuilt the carbs, rebuilt the starter, replaced and rebuilt/powdercoated and progressive springs installed in the front forks, powder coated the rear swing arm and installed new bearings, powder coated the front and rear rims and installed new rubber, new chain and sprockets. Here are some pictures of the progress.....

The parts you have done look great. It looks like it was in pretty rough shape to begin with. Those carbs look like they'll be a real pain to clean. I bought an ultra sonic cleaner from Harbor Freight a couple months ago and its worked wonders on carbs and other small parts. I cleaned one set thoroughly by hand three times this summer and was still running lean no matter how i rejetted. After one ultra sonic cleaning, it opened everything up and theyre flowing gas like new. Heres a pic of my kz cafe/ brat bike for a lil insperation

Wow your bike looks great, what did it look like when you started with it? I just looked at the ultrasonic cleaner did you get the 2.5L one at HF? I never thought about using one of those to clean carbs. Kinda at a standstill on my KZ till I get back from this trip to Afghanistan, hopefully I have a nice pile of new parts waiting for me.

Thanks, my bike came a long way too. my ultrasonic cleaner is the 2.5l. Its used to be the chicago brand, mine says "ship to shore" but its exactly the same and ive used it plenty and had no ploblems. For the kz carbs youll have to disassemble the rails and fit two at a time. Ive attached a couple pics below of how my bike started.

Did you do the framework yourself? There is the section behind the carbs where the orginal battery sat mine has a curve to it and I plan on cutting that out and putting a straight piece in there. Is that what you had to do?
