Hi....I'm new hear to the forum. I've been a non member and just reading and learning. So I thought it was time to show some of the tips that I had learned being in the shadows.

This is my project I've been working on for a while and am now starting to get it together slowly but surely.

Yes it is. Thought I'd do something a little different. I'm actually further along than the pic shows but didn't have time to put them all up yet. When I started I had the frame powder coated but didn't take a pic of that.

I went through the whole engine split the cases checked for all tolerances and all was ok.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for the great pics - looks really good! Interested to know what black paint you used on the motor and what preparation you did before the paint was applied. I'm about to paint my '78 Z1-R motor and am looking for options - it's in one lump, already assembled. I've roughened up the previously painted surfaces with sandpaper/wire brushes and am ready to apply colour after I give it a good washdown and maskup the unpainted bits..

Thanks for the welcome.

The cases are painted with PJ1 from Z1 enterprises. When I had the cases apart they were sprayed and then the paint was baked on. All of the other pieces are powder coated.

Different color but I thought I add my 2-cents on engine paint. DO NOT use VHT Cast Aluminum. It turns gold when it gets hot. No problem with the Universal Aluminum.

Thanks for the tip - I wasn't aware that this happens - might save a lot of disappointment for some of our our other guys.

I couldn't believe it either. And I'm pretty sure the manufacturer new of the problem, because they reimbursed me for the job of repainting.

Here's where I was till a big setback. Still have to clean the inside of the tank, do a little body work on the tank, prep all body parts, and start painting. The color I've picked is 1976 Kawasaki KZ900 green w/gold and green pin stripping.
