Here is my project I recently started. I bought a box of parts from a kz900 a 1000 frame and zx11c front and rear end. To start I decided to do the triple tree swap and the swingarm because I figured those would give me the most trouble. So for the steering stem on the zx11 it had already been turned down to fit the lower stock Kz bearing. Then I made a sleeve to fit the top of the zx11 stem and the ID of the stock Kz bearing.

Next I decided to buy a stock kz swingarm and extend it myself. I cut it and lathed out two 6 inch extentions that widened the rear to 10.5" wide to allow for the zx11 rear rim. Originally it was only 9" wide I havent got around to welding it yet but will post more pics when done.

I got anxious on the wheels because I had heard of different ways of polishing the lips on wheels. I had heard to use aircraft stripper and let it sit for a day til it came off and i had heard of sanding. After trying both methods I decided both took way to long. I found that if you use a Scotch Bright pad (more like 6 lol) and the air craft stripper it takes the powdercoat off fairly easily. Polish them a bunch and they end up looking great!

I like what I've seen so far, keep up the good work.
I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 Ltd. I bought new. I recently managed to get it out of my garage after 28 years and put it on the road again (2010). I feel like a kid all over again. Since I have acquired 3 78 KZ1000 Ltd, 1 1981 KZ1000 Ltd, and another 1980 KZ750 Ltd. Love the LTD's.

Looks cool. 6" is a lot to add to a swingarm that wasn't all that stout to begin with. Have you considered adding some bracing? How about extending the inner flange of the extension further into the original legs? Doesn't look like a lot of engagement in the pic.

Thanks for the input and yes I have considered that. I am debating on putting another tube in and plug welding it. There is only a 3/4 an inch or so flange. However I work with proffessional welders in the summer that can put on a very thick weld. I will let them look at it and see what they think....(originally I was going to have an inch and a half on each side but ran out of bar  )
