B7s should help things as the Champion n-3s are a step cooler...... bike shop talked me into the n-3s and it ran good but I needed to clean it out by red lining it in a few gears before I ran somebody ..... didn't miss or seem loaded up but was a couple bikes slower till I figured out that was the problem........ (found out later I was a step or 2 richer on the main too which just added to the problem.) Run N-4s now.

Leon- i'm thinking that or the Suzi valve Wrench shared. Either way, I need something done about this...

650- i've been to a shop here in town who is ordering in some B7's for me. Hopefully they're here next week. I couldn't get them anywhere in town and had to bring then in from the US or special order. The bike had B8's on it when I bought it so I figured I'd run it there. Then Ed corrected me and showed that the 650 needs to run a B7, so i'm sure it will help a bit too. As far as I know, my mains are fine, but i'll do a check once I have the fuel filter in and the B7's in. It's always one small thing left to tune up on these old girls.

not sure if your tank is the same as my dads 77 kz650.
but,
dad milled out a lil block of aluminum and bolted to the tank then drilled and tapped it to fit a pingle that he already had for a harley.
the nice thing about spending the cash on a nice one is when it does what it is supposed to do .
and nothing else

Leon,

I think as Ed said the tap on the 77 is different, but I'd assume the tank itself would be the same. If so, this is definitely a route to go. As long as I have a reserve option with the tap, that would be good. All I know is I'm tired of the stock petcock and the issues I keep getting, even after I do a full rebuild on the thing.

so it would appear one of these www.pingelonline.com/prodcat/fuel-valve-adapters.asp adapter plates would bolt to the tank then you can thread one of their petcocks right on.

Leon,

Yup! I checked the site out fully after you posted to get a feel for what's there. Looks like that 44mm plate then one of the taps would be great for it. Now to decide on the Suzi or Pingle tap...

I like this idea, I'm gonna look into this as well. I have the same old petcock with my tank. I was gonna just buy an NOS one to replace it but this is something new.

So I know this has nothing much to do with my thread, but on the way out of the gym today, I saw this sexy number sitting there... Bone stock, in immaculate condition. What a nice bike...

Devin

OP's prerogative.

That bike looks very familiar...

That or it's a very popular restoration color.
