I figure it's about time I get started working on it. Bought it pretty much "as is" except for the Ohlins (had konis). Plan on painting all the red stuff black and all the bodywork lime green. I'm think that I may usea asmall tach/speedo like a Trailtech Vapor and flush mount a small HID light into a front number plate.

...no its been collecting dust....but I have several other 550's so I hope that makes it OK ?

porchev...it's already pretty "built", It has a pistons, cams ,ported head, lightened crank and CR29's. The chassis mods are alloy sw-arm, Ohlins, PVM wheels, billet triple clamps, 1100 front forks, Brembo calipers, floating rotors. It was built in Germany, then imported. They did some real nice work and I got a seriously good deal on it thru ebay.

I just need to sort some stuff and do the cosmetics (ELR type). I'll probably do some valve seals/adjustment when I pull the motor to paint the frame. I intend to put the stock GPz pegs/controls back on also. I have a Kerker that I can use also, but the stainless header on there is pretty nice so I may adapt a Kerker megaphone to it. And of course the proper GPz front fender. Thats about it really

Yeah they did . A couple of things were hacked, like the rearsets and pipe (removed in pic). The oil cooler is a nice cooler , but the lines need the U turns removed or the cooler relocated. No big deal though.

Thanks, it's not bad , it's a little orangeish in person...I just have always wanted a lime Kaw. I have an '80 KZ550 that I will swap that nice black body over to (the '80's were black with blu/red pinstripes). I have a spare set (or 3) of bodywork that I can paint green. I will probably do the wheels black instead of gold. Thinking an 80% gloss powder coat on the frame and wheels.

Very cool bike! So is it quite a bit faster than a stock 550?

Oh yeah, I like your ELR idea!:P

I havent ridden it much, but I have thousands of miles on stock 550's. I'd have to say that it is significantly faster.

Harm,
Nice job on your 550
