Thanks for the compliment Leon, I do like the look and the stance as well, but it's been that way for many years so it's time for a change. Modern suspension and wheels are just what I'm lusting for and Ben's clamps are definitely in the cards. A Gixer arm with extensions (for racing and sometimes just cruising) will look super cool. I like extensions because they are easily removable for riding some twisties. Years ago I bought a set of conventional FZR1000 forks for the same type of conversion but more retro looking, but I decided I wanted to use USD forks instead. I'm planning on a stock appearing paint scheme to really offset the retro-modern theme.

I love the damper, calmed the bike right down, shocks are S&Ws, and yes the frame is beefed up with 5 tubes. The swingarm made a huge difference in the way the bike handles. It is much stiffer so in helps calm down the wobbles, but it is 2 inches longer so it slows the handling down in the corners a bit. It's an acceptable trade off though, because that scoot used to get scary sometimes! lol

Hi TerryK!

This is one of the very, very few times I´ve seen those Mikunis in a Kwak. I got those in mine, they are TM33-8012 -flatslides.quote]

The first GSXRs actually landed in Canada BEFORE most other countries, including the US. I managed to find a shop manual for tuning the carbs but it still took a long time to get them right. .

After much tweeking, they run smooth and crisp from off idle to well past red line. I did lose a bit of low end torque as I believe they are a bit too much carb for a basically stock engine, but they pull hard as hell from 4k and up. A set of cams is in the works and it will wake up the engine considerably. quote]

Shop manual for those carbs???? Wow, do you have it in .pdf or other form that you could mail???? I´d really like to have that :cheer: [file]

Too much carb, you say. Well I fabbed aluminum "velocity stacks" inside my K&N oval filters (my bike is 1109cc ELR). Of course you can´t have the right stack shape but even with a straight tube I´d say that they made a noticeable difference. My stacks are 70mm long, intake duct length is close to 3rd harmonic pulse. Really cheap trick to try but could help the low-mid -range.

First off, WOW! Beautiful bike! I love ELRs and yours is one of the nicest I've seen. Slightly modded yet still retaining it's legendary looks. Well done. Could you email me that picture so I can save it to my "cool bikes" file?

The vel stack idea is great, I'll have to try it! What is the inside diameter?

PM me your name and address and I'll send you a copy of the manual.
