Yeah - you mostly see them on Old Guzzis and Beems and those guys are where you'll find um when the wife's forcing shop/garage vetting.

I have some crazy documentation on them that includes full page slicks on 4 or 5 cafe & 1/4 variants. It also includes some pretty hilarious customer testimonial letters that were included by the American sales distributor. Handwritten outrageous claims about supposed bulletproof-ness, being able to smoke a cigarette behind one peacefully and, in one case, pure strength of the fairing having saved a rider's life.
Makes for great reading and I'm pretty thrilled the original owner handed over the whole package to me.

There's rumor of a few copies of a full-fairing prototype floating around. Never made it to full production, but boy would I like to see something along the lines of a full, goose-sized, see-through bubble fairing. Return of the pod-people.

love the bike very nice job but unless someone was shooting at me,i'm sorry even then that fairing is uglier than a man's ass i could never put it on my bikes like black banshee said you can't take your eyes off it but that is also true for train wreacks as well. i probably would buy it just because it does have the weird factor going for it i could see having it hanging up in my shop but never on one of my bikes sorry. but other than that love the bike nice job again some people might say the fairing grows on you but so doesn't sypillis.

Bwaaaaa...it's an acquired taste, no doubt. I dig on the story & oddness of it probably more than the actual thing. I definitely prefer the bike without anything up front. Though I'll be plenty happy about it tonight as I ride up north in the rain....two less salamanders might drop outta my arse at trip's end.

Glad you guys dig the rest of the build though..I'm pretty stoked and appreciative. Now for the miles..............wet, soggy cold miles. And, frankly, I can't wait. Gigitty gigitty.

Thanks all much appreciate. Clocked a cool thousand miles over a long weekend. nearly all of them wickedly sodden and totally enjoyable none-the-less. Didn't have a lick of an issue over those three + days of riding. Something seems to have cropped up since...but I'll post on that over in the appropriate forum.

Thanks for all the support and ups. Some of you will be happy to know that, now that I've got the bike up to my new home in Maine, that fairing has come of and it's looking clean and mean :-).

congrats on the trouble free ride!
that fairing is a form follows function thing to me,if it functions as well as you described(especially in the rain)then it justifies the funky shape.plus 5 mins and you can peel it off.keep us posted,

I gotta say, having logged about 700 raining miles this weekend, that bubble fairing is a g8d-damned comfort-keeping machine. The pocket dynamics are just sound enough to keep the hands out of the direct wind, you get wet through some edge blow-back, but no direct blast w/ superbars.

That, combined with the fact that a settled riding position essentially has the helmet as a continuation of the top of the envelope, and thus dramatically reduces wind shear, head buffeting & direct rain impact at HIGH-way speed, has made me a believer. It's not quiet without ducking directly behind the shield, but it sure is mo'betta comfortable for long highway haulin'.

No fighting with it at 100 & it will act the sail with a tailwind. What's that they say.....ugly girls try harder? Heh.
