Well i decided since we have been seeing alot of chopper projects on the forum lately, and everyone is in the chopper mood:laugh:
i would post the progress of mine. I know alot of you dont like seeing a perfectly good bike get cut up but hear is my story. Went to monster jam in fargo, ND last winter and saw a sad looking kz on the street with a 4 sale sign. Couldnt just drive by, especially knowing a kz is hard to come by around here i stopped. Owner said that i could have it for $200. It didnt run, P.O. said it was coils but it was definately in sad shape all around. We had a 150 mile trip back home in a minivan with 5 people, but that wasnt going to stop me. I used the owners tools and had the forks, swingarm, and exhaust pulled off in no time. I was just getting excited when we realized that the tail of the frame was about 4 inches too long to fit in the back of the van. I knew what had to be done so i borrowed his sawzall and did the deed. When i got back i figured chopper would be the only reasonable decision, and it is something i had never built and saw it as a challenge. It is a 1978 kz 650, and here are some pics.
if you can see it, trailor queen is scratched into the valve cover. "trailor queen" was supposed to be the theme of this project to make fun of all the fancy v twins that never get ridden.
Sadly i am selling this bike before i get to finish it. I have an offer of $1200 so i think i will take the money and run. The good side is i will be putting the money into college and building my 79 kz1000 dragbike
