i bought an old 78 kz650 almost a year ago. i still have a few odds and ends to finish up but yesterday i rode her for the first time since i bought it. back then i only rode it 10 minutes and decided to go through everything. its running nice and strong....lots of power! dyna coils, EI, plug wires; rebuilt front forks, went through entire electrical system, EI relay mod, replaced 12 lightbulbs, custom harley petcock (used a mill to machine an aluminum adapter), rebuilt carbs to original state and put airbox back in. new regulator, battery, venturi bolt for oil filter, patched up all exhaust leaks....you name it ive done it. im verrry happy now that i dont have it in pieces anymore. i owe it all to the info i attained on this site. thanks all of you guys!

when i finish all the minor things (fixing a dented turning signal) and clean the cob webs off of it ill snap lots of pics! i rode it about 30 miles yesterday and just got back from a short ride. noticed on the way back the left side was popping during deceleration. when i got home i noticed the slip on muffler slipped off. do you guys just clamp the muffler on the exhaust or do you use some sort of insulator between the two pieces? im using some fiberglass strips to wrap around the pipe and i clamp the muffler over it.
