Hello everybody, sorry for the long delay in posting. Blackbanshee, I appreciate the speedo link, looks like a nice unit. I'm gonna stick with the stock gauges on this one, but maybe on the next project? I actually had a big, indepth post about every detail of the rear monoshocking of my bike but I lost it when I went to submit it so I am gonna do the condensed version here and if anyone has any specific questions on any part of it, I have plenty more pics and would be happy to help anyway I can. That being said, I did end up having to narrow the front of the swingarm 5/16" on either side to get it to fit, and I had to make a sleeve to go inside the original zx sleeve and fit over the kz swingarm bolt. Once the swingarm was in, I set about finding a way to build an upper shock mount that would still allow me to put the battery and electronics on either side of said mount and here is what I came up with-

top view

back view

left side

With a bit of modification to the lower link, I was even able to reuse the center two tabs of the stock centerstand mount without moving them, though I still need to remove the outer two tabs and reweld up the inner two

Like I said, I have some more pics of the sleeve I made and the lower link mods, but I won't waste space posting those unless someone really wants to see them. Hope this helps some others on here, next up for me is footpeg fab, useless crap welded to the frame removal, sandblasting and painting. I will leave yall today with a pic of the bike the way it sits now--

Ben

Thanks for the compliments. The battery is going to the right of the angled bar as you look down from the top of the bike(it will be running parallel with the bike instead of perpendicular to it like it does in the stock location and the electronics on the left. That was the hard part of the whole deal, I didnt' want any kind of supports coming up from the shock mount at any angle side to side or I would not have room for the battery but I still felt I needed something resisting the upward force of the shock, hence the angled bar up to the frame under the gas tank. Hope this clears it up a little.

if your looking for an off-set sprocket
try the one on your zx10 motor,it fitted fine on my elr
which might be the same size as an older zed,not sure though but worth a try.

I appreciate the input kawaman, I actually tried the zx10 sprocket first thing but the splines are completely different. I think the older kz's are different than the early 80's/1000cc+ one's. I actually ended up using an afam sprocket I found-

Plummen, I don't get the 78 a2 frame reference, I'm pretty sure it's the orig. 76 frame. If it was a joke, it went way over my newb head:)

Back out to the garage I head

I checked and up on the steering head the numbers stamped into the head itself match the sticker on the steering head matches the title and they all say it's a 76 so I got nothing there. Kinda a head scratcher I guess- some mystery's are better left unsolved:unsure:
