That's coming along really nice. Is the 1.5 degree rake to help compensate for the shorter forks?

IT WAS RAKED WHEN i BOUGHT IT IN 1979.(Oops, cap locks thing.)It was to improve high speed handling, but Im not shure they they felt the need back then. The new bikes only have 24 * of rake. This will help me when I add the new forks though. It seems that every inch of hieght change at the rear moves the rake about 1 degree. Not sure if I will use the zx12 forks. They may be too short. I'm looking for some zx9 forks.I bough a wheel for the front but never recieved it(got burned) so I cant do the front yet anyway.I see you have a Hindle header.I remember meeting him back in 80 when he was raceing. Will a gpz pipe fit a kz? How do you like it? I never see them anymore.

The pipe has been on for quite a few years and it's stood up quite well - no rust damage, no cracks. Stubs bolt to the head and the pipes are held on by springs, making oil changes easier. I wonder if it is the right pipe for this bike or for another model because it does touch the frame and the centre stand had to be removed and one of the centre stand mounts cut off - or it was a "race" pipe. Can't complain, but it does hang down quite low. They were referred to as being highly respected by Street Fighter magazine.
www.hindle.com/ - but I don't see anything for the air cooled bikes.
Too bad you got ripped off on the wheel, I know how you feel, it happened to me, twice (ebay)! That front end may not be too short depending on how far you push the rear end up. The GSXR fork on mine is quite short but it looks like it's going to work out fine.
Keep us posted. I'll be updating mine sometime regarding the swingarm and angles etc.

I've had no problem with the 36s. It idles well and pulls strong from idle up. I think part of the reason is it is 1170 and I have the stock GPz cams so the power band is lower than say a smaller engine with hotter cams.
Regarding your concern about the front end being too short, my front end is 28.5" from the top to the centre of the axle. The rear is sitting 27" from the ground to the dual shock bosses on the frame. It looks like my front end is sitting at 24 to 26 degrees. If it is a little too quick, I'll just get a steering damper.
Engine's looking good - the black and polished fins against the red is going to really stand out. Anxious to see it finished.
