In an effort to increase ground clearance, and match the front and rear ride height i made some changes.
i had the top tree modified to allow it to sit lower, thus lowering the forks and raising the front end.
I had to remove the bottom boss (drilled out) from the top tree, to eliminate its interference.

Is there a way to add 2 pics together in 1 post without using Photobucket? i cant access Photobucket from here.

Wow Mark, I just realized this was your build thread! In hindsight, were all the mods worth it?

X2

I took the time to read through the whole thread. It's good to see how your bike progressed over time. I only wish that I could have ridden mine before I started my project. What are your plans for the future? Seems like you have expressed the wish to work on your bike more, so what's in the cards?

Was it worth it? Well yes, of course. To me, anyways.
i suppose that depends on what u intend to get out of your project. if u think u will make money when u sell it, u will be very disappointed. But for me, I always seem to feel the need to change things and personalize them, my house, my bike, the furniture I build. Every new project is meant to be more difficult than the last. This satisfies the craving to learn more. And I think 1 of the most gratifying things , is to stand back at the end, look at your work, and say (to yourself) I did that myself.
I am still not satisfied with the handling. I still have a weave to iron out. Hopefully the new tires will solve that, we’ll see.
I plan to take it to track days, so it needs to handle well. Its good enough for the street now, I ride it harder than I should on the street.
The motor has power, but not enough. I think I need a bike like Joshes for that, or a zx14.
Josh I have most of what I want to do done. It will likely only see small changes from now on. I do need a good paint job though, so that means a complete tare down once again. I don’t have time for that now, so I will just touch up the paint for now.
I do have a wish list, New and improved ZRX Wong seat mod. 200mm rear tire(just because I think it would look sick.) Acewell speedo, Ohlin Steering damper, New temp gauge,Hydro clutch(i have all the parts for this exept the line),O2 sensor, Brand new Kerker.
If I was starting over I would put a mono on the rear. So coolB)
Keep it twisted.

OOOOH! ZX-14! Daddy Like! Yeah I'm with you on the ZX-14. I think that I might have to get one in the future. Happiness is 105 ft/lbs of torque. The Busa is cool, but I can't quite get with that styling.

You could get the mono-shock in there when you tear down for paint. It's not really that much added steel, but I know that you need someone to weld it. I bet you a dollar that those new tires fix your weave.

First of all, I think the weave is due to miss matched levels of blinker fluid throwing his balance outa wack....no WAY its tires, they just don't have enough influence over motorcycle handling charachteristics :P Oh, and Mark, if the leveling out the blinker fluid doesn't help, a mono shock conversion would be the only other culprit for the handling woes you're describing  So, enjoy the bike this season, cause next winter it's time to tear it apart and fab in the Duc arm... :cheer:

Oh, and a ZX14 would be cool B)

OR, we could go for a conventional mono shock like this Arilia unit....

i realy cannt see me going mono now, after all it took to get it here, but it would be cool. the most likely arm of choise(do to cost, wouldnt need a new front rim , and simlper, since i have to job out my fab work)would be 1 like RoyNor used.i cant access any of his pics from here or i would post 1. i like the fact that the bracing is on the bottom, just a LITTLE more old school looking to me.
He took a bussa arm and turned it upside down . Kinda matches the front forks. :silly:
Oh and Adam, Thanks so much for the tip. I will be sure to check the blinker fluid, the second i get home. You guys think of everything.I owe u big time for this 1.
