If the end result is simply lower overall gearing, a 14T front sprocket will probably be easier to find. 14T front sprockets were a very common mod in the day, and 14/35 will result in very similar gearing compared to 15/37.

Thanks. This is actually a restoration of a great friends prized possession of all the bikes he owned. After he passed, I decided to take this project on. I am just wondering if this isn't a 77 KZ1000 sprocket. They improvised a lot back in the day.

Try this place. They show one available for a 74 Z1 630, it may be a custom order but they do show a price for it. I also have that same sprocket currently on my 77 KZ 1000 A1, fyi. Good luck....

Does it have a custom sprocket on it now?
Kawasaki lists it as being 35T
JT also lists it as 35T or optional 33T

Negative, mine is a after market sprocket from that company, "sprocket-specialest", and it is 630 pitch, 37 tooth. Also it was purchased back in the early 90's, so I quess they've been around a while.

From that PN in the posted picture I was able to confirm its aftermarket and Portco brand.
Check current Ebay item 145908768603 and 202042018158
Probably much easier to replace it with a 35T unit.

A 33 or 35 tooth rear sprocket is more common and easier to buy.
It´s also gives you more speed and mpg, indepandent of your R.I.P friends solution, just my 2 cents!
For a faster acceleration go and get an other +100 hp bike.
Trust me, i could do it street legal on the highway here in Germany but no longer need it anymore, due to the stupid handy controlled zombie remote driver on the roads! But this is an other off topic story......

- Scirocco This Z1 is special and will remain as it was built. But to your point, my other bike is well over 100hp and has many hp upgrades.

I am confused, I understand why this bike is special to you and it is admirable that you have taken it on "out of respect" for your friend. What I find confusing is, if you want it to remain "bone stock as it left the factory" then why are you looking for a non-original sprocket/gear ratio ?
