Zero? Maybe you should check your wiring further first. Then check the stator and rotor - make sure there *is* one! If the stator is absolutely dead, you can have it re-wound......I get zero.... Should I replace this thing?

In MY case,it wasn't a clean break(barely hanging on) and I was getting low volts because of it,and eventually,My BRAND NEW battery would fizzle out.
Seriously...You might want to remove that cover and have a good look inside.

Also:
Battery voltage will usually rise slightly at higher RPMs, with no charging system at all, because the ignition uses much less power at high RPMs. It will usually raise almost .5 volts from idle, when revved steadily. (This may not be true with aftermarket ignitions, though.)

Hey I forgot you're from South Lyon....I'll recheck the afternoon when I get off work and let you know what I find. Thank you for your help.
Geez, how come we never met up? Not that I'm a mechanic, but at least I could come by and look at it and say, "Yep - it doesn't work..."
