about 2 months ago I put a Dyna S ignition on my 78 KZ650 and also did the coil mod.....yesterday the UPS man brought my Dyna coils from Z1 and a new set of 7mm wires....HOLY BALLS!!!! night and day difference with the new coils and wires....not that it ran bad with stock ones....but this just kicked it up a notch..alot more responsive and alot smoother

You'll notice start-ups are quicker, and off idle throttle response is improved.

Won a virtually new set of Andrews coils and Accel wires on ebay. The bike started ok and ran really smooth before, After installing coils and wires the bike started right up despite a slow crank (low battery) runs MUCH smoother and now I notice a slight surge of power at about 7 grand that was not really there before, and a big plus of about 70% better throttle response! Was really impressed with the difference and I'm still gonna do the WG coil mod. Andrews coils checked out at 3.1 ohms and will find out at work how bad my stockers really were. WOW

If you're using a B8ES for your Z1, then a BR8EIX will work. Read about them here:

Find the one for your bike here:

When I installed mine with the Accel Coils and Wires, I noticed the same thing stated above.

Price for my bike was only $6.95 each.
From NGK Site about Iriduim Plugs:
Iridium
Iridium is a precious metal that is 6 times harder and 8 times stronger than platinum, it has a 1,200(=F) higher melting point than platinum and conducts electricity better. This makes it possible to create the finest wire center electrode ever. Prior till now, platinum had been favored for long life or performance spark plugs due to its high melting point, also the technology did not exist to machine and bond iridium on a spark plug electrode(at least in a cost effective manner). Iridium industrial spark plugs have been around for years, but still sells for over a hundred dollars per plug. Just now is the technology available to effectively use iridium in a spark plug for automotive applications. The strength, hardness and high melting point of iridium allows NGK to manufacture their iridium ultra-fine wire center electrode to 0.7mm. One of the finest firing points in the industry! (Thus far there has been no problems reported regarding use of iridium plugs with nitrous oxide.)
