Carb Re-install/Carb Holder Problems

Can anyone help me out? I am trying to get my CV 34's back on my '81 KZ750 LTD. They keep popping off every time I think I have them installed. I am only snugging down the clamps and not trying to make them super tight. Is their some trick to getting these carbs back on and seciure? I don't need them popping off when I am riding. Thanks.

If they are in far enough they should "pop" in not out - try a little rubber lube

As Wookie sayed, use some grease and a heat gun to soften the rubber boots.
Use a rachet belt around the carb set and cyl. head to secure the position during the clamping process.
So nothing should pop out, normaly it´s a snug fit plop in without those trouble .
It´s only possible if you have the wrong boots to the carbs without the rised positon lip in the intake boot area.

Im assuming you have put on new rubber manifolds but it sounds like you are using the old hard ones. They should pop on like others have said. If they are originals replace them.

I believe it's a "glitch" one of the symbols on my profile did the same last week but as with yours (as far as I can see) it went back to normal again which is good as you would need "vielen Kaffee" for that much cake

Not sure if they have ben replaced, but they seem in decent shape. I applied some silicone grease (Super Lube) and used a little bit of heat to make them more pliable and the carbs seemed to seat/pop on better. How tight do the clamps need to be? Just snug? As tight as I can get them? Specific torque amount?

The objective should be to tighten them enough so that no air gets into the head through leaks in the carb mounts.

So after applying some heat and a bit of silicone grease (Super Lube) I basically just snugged them down. I didn't even go hand tight, just snug. The heat gun at about 450 F was just right to soften them a bit more and make them nice and pliable.

the carburetor holder clamps can be loose but if not loosened sufficiently the carburetors can be hard to push in. probably not the prob but you never know.
