Hey all, I have an 81 KZ750 4. This bike is new to me and am just getting it on the road for the first time in who knows when. I have pulled a cleaned the carbs...not a full tear down, but removed the jets (three of them) and made sure they were clean (wire through the inside and the blow out with carb cleaner and air). The number one cylinder does not seem to be doing anything. Its about 90 degrees and actually removing the plug wire when its running, there is not change in RPM or engine sound. I can spray starter fluid in through the back of the carb and hear it rev up, so I know compression and spark are there. I actually did a compression check on all cylinders when I first got the bike and all cylinders were good. I also set all the float heights, so I think those are good. I opened the drain plug at the bottom of the bowl and it has gas.

What else can I check?

The pilot circuit in that carb may be clogged.

Quite likely.  The pilot circuit is more than just a jet.  It's a passage from the pilot jet up to the pilot screw, and down into the carb throat.

Also, those carbs have super tine passages through the bleed pipes.

I did blow carb cleaner though the pilot passage into the carb throat, but I'll also be sure to pull the pilot screw and blow some cleaner through that also.
