The new racing organization, CSRA, the Classic Superbike Racing Association have brought back the machines that made the AMA Superbike Series so famous. The 1000cc race bikes from the 1976 to 1982 AMA Superbike racing series will be racing again this season on certain tracks!!! It started this weekend at Sears Point in conjunction with Moto America.

There are plenty of old Z1's, and Kz1000's already in the first field of bikes. Along with GS1000's, CB750's, and one or two twins. Dale Quarterley on his #32 Kawasaki seems to be the bike to beat by times set in practice.

Like I said before, Old Kawasaki KZ's don't die, they turn into race bikes!!!!

I watched this on MotoAmerica's Live Timing, and it was a close battle up front. This class follows AHRMA's Vintage Superbike Rules. Because a lot of the races this weekend were televised, I hope this one makes it to the "boob tube". Dale Quarterly's 1982 GPz1100 was wickedly quick, so he finished first. Also quick was that of Ed Haazer's 1975 KZ900, leading the race till the last lap.

Glad to hear they put on a good show. Even better to hear that those old vintage Kz's were running up front all day long!!!

The CSRA rules allow bigger carbs than the AHRMA rules, but all parts have to be "period correct" No upside down forks, no flatslide carbs(i.e. Keihin FCR's) and so forth. They want the bikes to be as close as they can to the bikes that ran back in the '76 to '82 period.

I hope the CSRA series is a huge success. I have racer friends of mine that left AHRMA over all the politics and the favoritism shown to the chosen few!!! They are now both running the WERA vintage classes in the midwest and enjoying it much more than they did running AHRMA!!! I have known both racers since the 70's and I believe what they have told me.

Would love to see them at Louden. I'll never forget Cooley, Lawson and Spencer in NH.

That blonde in your avatar reminds of this designer that I did work for. She's a dead ringer. Whenever she addressed me it was always by calling me, motherf*$%$er. She called everyone that, well the males that is.

Bizarre

Yes, that back hill. That’s where I liked to be. Oh man, and the antics back there back when the police weren’t allowed there because people would get kilt. Talk about bizarre.
