hello I have a 1981 KZ1000 LTD and I recently purchased this oil filter off of amazon. I am wondering if I have the correct oil filter? If I do not where can I find a place that I can shop for KZ1000 parts that will give me the correct part? Have a great day and thank you in advance

The Kawasaki part number for the 1981 KZ1000 LTD oil filter is #16099-003 it also fits the 1982 KZ1000 R1 and every 1000/1100 engine from 1981 to 2005 on various models.

Might i spoil Your day, not intending to but "Please" don't purchase that critical crap off Amazon!! Not only can the filter element be sub-par but the two rubbers will surely turn to mush. Chinese cheap shite rubber, as well as other quickly duplicated/copied, products. Fram had a disparage with the Z1 filters, and probably never rectified that issue either. I discussed that with the manufacture several years ago, resolve, never changed anything. I'd toss that POS and purchase something else. My 2-cents but pay heed, Please!

+1 on asphalt900's reply.  Quality oil filters for your KZ are not very expensive, why take the chance on questionable chinese ones?

Make that three!

You can get OEM filters from any Kawasaki dealer, or you can order online from Partzilla.  I've used K&N in the past as well.

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

There are a couple of K&N's in my garage, ready for the next 2 oil changes.  I order 4 at a time.

NAPA.Their line of Gold filters are good.

Webike, Partzilla, Ron Ayers and your local Kawasaki dealer carry the genuine factory filter.

Always keep quality filters and plugs on hand, takes time to accumulate this much crap! But it saves from the wait from shipping to the door...

While I wouldn't buy a filter like mentioned, if I already had it, I'd slam it in and ride.

Yuppers, but double check the internal outside to outside dimensions of the rubbers in the filter compared to the one you'd pulled out. This is the problem with the assigned Fram part number for the Z1/KZ900/1000's I'd experienced in the past. You stand the risk of hyper-crushing the cover side spring. Also note make sure YOU still have the slim washer between mentioned spring to filter rubber gasket!! I only retain quantities because i moved from the city to a rural area, 30 mile roundtrip to get a pack of Wrigley's gum. I end up working on all my neighbors, fantastic by the way, stuff. The dangling Suzuki 3-cyl gas engine, hard to find in the wild but..
