I got off the bike after not a particularly hard ride but probably an hour long, and I see my boot is covered in oil. Never good, all down that side of the bike has splatters of oil. I pull the ignition cover off and I believe it is my oil pressure switch. 
as you can see it makes sense what is what is leaking but I haven’t pulled the ignition cover back off to check. My question is where can I find one of these? Z1 doesn’t show the correct part number, 16144-006. Is my only option eBay?

Schematics show the original part number as 16144-006. However the part number of what he gave me was 27010-1313. They appear the same but when I look up the 1313 number it shows a 90s ninja as fitting.

Schematics show the original part number as 16144-006. However the part number of what he gave me was 27010-1313. They appear the same but when I look up the 1313 number it shows a 90s ninja as fitting. 

It's hard to know if that other part number is correct.  Even if it fits, it may be set to a trigger at a different pressure.

Well I was able to limp it home, topped it to the top of the sight glass and it took half a quart! Luckily I only live half a mile from work which is where the leak happened. Well on the half mile trip home, it lost all of the half quart and is now back down to the bottom of the glass. It was running maybe 3-5 minutes at most. One thing was odd, when I got on the bike and turned the key to ON, it showed I had oil pressure when the bike wasn’t running… definitely think it’s a bad sensor because the screw was connected and tight. 

I pulled off the ignition cover and dyna plate and removed the old sensor. Nothing seems to be physically wrong with it but it did have oil down in the screw hole for the switch to connect to. Cleaned everything up and now waiting on the part to arrive. Should be here Friday or Saturday.

You need to get a copy of the factory service manual.  All of the answers are in there.  There may be a PDF copy in the Filebase on this site.

You get eye cancer from this service manual, it´s a really bad copy. You better use the colored one from 750turbo.com.

That 27010-1313 oil pressure switch was used on the ZR7/ZR7S (air cooled models based on the Z650/750 engine).
From the ZR-7S FSM:  standard oil pressure = 14.5 psi @ 3000 rpms.
There should be some info here on KZR about the ZR7 oil pump as it's kind of an upgrade for the 650/750-4s, so there might be something about the oil pressure switch.

Well, it sounds like that one may actually work for my application. I checked my FSM and it indicates 28-36PSI @4k RPM (194°). Well I’ll just wait for mine to get here.

It's unusual for these to fail and cause a leak, normally they would just wind out. But if it wasn't working either, then I suppose it needs replacing.

I saw plumbers tape mentioned. You can use plumbers tape if its all you have (it's the old-school home mechanic way of doing it), but really a medium strength thread locker is a better idea. Less sensitive to how much you put on, and if something does go wrong you won't have strips of PTFE sucked into tight oil passages.
