Notice the shifter and rear brake pedal both on the right side because your left foot is on the ground as you slide through the turns! That's pretty trick. Ed

Pre 2009 XR1200 (Yeah, I'd own one if I could), have to agree with some others... The only HD I would even consider owning was the 1970's Cafe Racers/flat trackers serious...

For example, 1977 Harley-Davidson XLCR Cafe Racer... B)

Anybody got 23 large I can borrow? In a no interest no payments until 2033 loan? There are a few HD's I'd love to have. Beginning with that flatter and the cafe. But there are a few more too. It's fun to rag on them and get ragged back and all but if you seriously are a HD hater you are missing a great story and a great bike. I love loyalty as much as the next guy....imagine what their prices would be if everyone liked them?

Check THIS out. I had walked into a Harley dealer 2 weeks ago and nearly fainted. Looked around to make sure this was an HD dealership. I stood back to avoid leaving saliva drool on the bike. Looked like my 1978 KZ650 in Luminous Red <a.k.a. BURNT METALLIC ORANGE> on steroids.

My 12-year old said "hey Dad, can we test drive it?" I hesitated, but HE asked the guy. They had a tester in the shed (not all do this). I was able to test drive it (sans kid). Sheesh, talk about power.....now, what would a potato-potato-potato feel like on a long trip....
When I got back, took junior around the football-field sized parking lot a few times. Major torque betwen your legs gentlemen...

Needless to say, my attitude towards HD company has been modified alot. But I still wonder, WHY is it that HD riders seemingly appear to go without helmets at a 10-1 ratio....so I still struggle with the HD cruiser crowd. BTW, if you do HD....PLEASE send a wave when the non-HD passes...we are all on the same non-cager team fighting the same 4-wheeled nemisis...

Test one today if you can. A bit pricy at $11K, but golly, what a blast on a Harley...of all things...XR1200. A modified Sportster in Cafe racer clothing....
