Ran across the video below. Every time I see these types of high speed escapades it makes me cringe and I think to myself, "What morons!:. I'm not going to be a hypocrite. Once, I done the same back in my youth on a public highway. But obviously not at 185 mph. Thank God the technology of the day was not at that level; My Z1900 could only do maybe 125 mph tops. That is the craziness (moronic mind) of youth. Fortunately my friend and I got pulled over and ticketed for going close to 120 mpg. Cop took pity on us and wrote it for 95. Which quickly put a stop to that kind of behavior. Years later, I use get my FJ1200 up to 150 mph. But that was on a secluded stretch of road with not a sole in site for miles. Which I feel is okay with, since it wasn't putting anyone else in peril. Others may not agree. These days, I have hit 100 mph couple of times with my KZ. Again, on a secluded country road. But not much more than that. I'm pretty much happy running it through a couple of gears up to the lawful speed limit once in awhile But mainly, I enjoy riding and taking up the scenery. I believe these kind of adventures in this video should be left for the track.

Must be KPH not MPH. No matter what, passing on the shoulders is just stupid. Keep that up and there will be more road kill.

Yup. One day when they pick up his broken body witnesses will say he was riding like an A-hole. Ed

It's the availability of cameras and the sites to post footage on that has increased the desire to show off completely beyond reason, IMO, for all sorts of activities and stunts, not just motorcycling. I'm not saying I didn't do anything reckless in my youth and that I still am not capable of occasionally going beyond what is sensible, but these modern videos, that I can hardly bare to watch, are just suicidal. Anyone who has ridden a motorcycle, for any period of time, knows that sort of speed relative to other traffic and the overtaking maneuvers can only result in a very serious fatal accident - the fact anyone is still alive to post the video, is just down to pure luck, which will run out all to soon. There is a difference between youthful exuberance and utter stupidity, coupled with a disrespect for you own life/body and the safety of others.

Obviously the spoiled little rich kids of today's world. Probably bought them with mommy and daddy's money, take them to the dealers for simple tasks such as oil changes etc. I so love it when they get arrested and impounded for going 100+. When I see one piled up in the ditch or median from driving stupid, I actually applaud and cheer! SERVES THEM RIGHT!!! I wish no harm on no one but riders like that are total IDIOTS without an ounce of brain! ....................................Mike

If some moron wants to take themselves out of the gene pool be my guest happy to even help, but the moment they try to pull innocent bystanders in and potentially remove them from the gene pool that's when I get pissed and it's not ok. I saw for a moment the speedo hit 290 kph, that's 180 mph WTF?! Take it to a track a-hole!

I had just bought Bossie and the headline of the local paper read, Kawasaki 900 broadsides a Jaguar going in the drivers side door and exiting the passenger side killing the two inside and the rider of the bike. He had a estimated speed of 80 MPH. That stuck with me for a long time.
Yes I do high speed passes but rarely go more than 80 or so. It's not needed.
In 75 I did read the speedo at 155 but it was 2 AM on the 405 and no one was around.I had just reached the 1000 mile mark.

Being a California resident, even I have absolutely NO clue whatsoever why it is legal to ride bikes between lanes of traffic no matter what the posted speed limit. To my knowledge, Cali is the only state where that is legal. What moron lawmakers made that law? My description of politicians on crack. Any other state it is wreckless driving. WTF???. That just boggles my mind. ......................................Mike

I'd be happy with lane splitting when traffic is stationary at a stop light, so I can move to the front to avoid being rear ended, and get away ahead of the traffic, I miss that based on UT rules, it was always done like that in the UK. As for doing it at speed overtaking, then that's asking for trouble, one person wandering in their lane and you are dead or paralyzed for life, I wouldn't do it even if it was legal.
It is ironic it's legal in CA of all places where usually they are trying to be the "nanny state" and protect everyone from anything dangerous.
On danger to others, my cub scout leader was very badly injured when I was a kid by someone running wide on a corner with a motorcycle and hitting her head on. So at 180 mph even flying motorcycle parts have the velocity to do serious damage, even more so if you are coming in the opposite direction. What's left of the solid parts of the bike is also likely to be airborne so could go straight through a windshield.

This is not the only state where it is legal. You are NOT to be going more than 5 mph faster than the speed of traffic or driving in a unsafe manor. If and when I do it, that is the way I ride.
