Next!

Next project, inspired by The Wounded Zee! I bought this bike 20? years ago with a seized up motor REALLY CHEAP, and promptly disassembled the whole damn thing. I'm not going to "restore" this bike, but clean and reassemble it so I can ride it and all the parts will be there for the next guy. I already own a rootbeer and orange set of reproduction body work, so at least that will be shiny. I'm considering cleaning the frame and using a matte clear over the years of character/rust like some people in the automotive world are doing. I don't want to make it too pretty because this is the only Z1 I've ever owned and I want to ride it!

I know it's going to be a good one. I hope it's going to be a while before it goes up for sale.

The paint on the frame is so thin, would be a shame not to paint it. The rollbar/chassis paint is good and has a nice sheen, not real glossy.

I'll get some popcorn. This will be interesting!

It will definitely be "a while", I work at retired guys pace!

The point is once I paint the frame, I would want everything to be cosmetically perfect, and then I wouldn't want to ride it on the 1 1/4 miles of gravel road between my house the the pavement. I just want to preserve it for the next guy to transform into a show queen if he so desires, and enjoy riding it!

Urethane, not polyester, powdercoat would be nice. It's pretty pretty darn tough too.
