ps: I know it's your motorcycle, but I wouldn't paint it green. Often times non-stock colors just don't look right.

I was planning on repainting it grey with red and blue pinstripes. Depending on if I get a stock tank or not will determine what I do with the paint scheme of the current tank, but I want to repaint the fender and side covers original even if it doesn't match the current tank.

Are you sure you have remove the circlip #6. A parts diagram can be wrong in the parts sequence.
Clean the outer MC bore , there must be a circlip under the dirt!!!
