As soon as I get done with the DMV I can get a quick tune in, some plates on and go for a ride. Since it is only 48° outside I'm in no hurry.

This stuff about the weight of the bike and the size of the discs etc sounds a bit excessive. Maybe its important for a high spec race bike but
the matching caliper/master seems like the place to start. A base line. Chances are itll be the best combo youll get.You can always fiddle with it later.
Best thing to do is try this combination, aim for a solid brick wall,go as fast as you can, then hit the anchors. If they dont work then you can be assured that the wall will stop you!! (Remember. Safety first!!!)

davido wrote: It sounds like youer making things too complicated for yourself with the brake problem (challenge). Could you not just get the master cylinder that originally went with the calipers (Gsxr?) and take it from there.? Same with the clutch.

That would have been easier, unfortunately the OEM master for the front end I bought had a fixed reservoir and would suck air had I uses it on my bar set-up. I have found one that will work for the brakes. I am still searching for one for the clutch but am not in a hurry for it as I had the option to go back to cable.

I found my oil leak and thought that I had it fixed but it is still leaking a bit at the base of the lower oil cooler adapter. I replaced the o-rings but there wasn't a gasket. Is there supposed to be?

No paint, I masked them off when I painted the block.

79MKII wrote: I've never seen gaskets on those myself, only o-rings. The adapter housings can crack easily if the barbed fitting is overtightened...maybe there is a crack instead of a leak at the bottom? (ask me how I know how easily they crack  )
I will have to look at them again. I did not see any oil coming from the fitting. The o=rings are brand new.

Praocticle Sportsbike No.54 (April2015)
Thanks Davido, that means I have been slacking on my reading as I have a digital subscription to Practical Sportsbike. Thank you for the article. Matching the M.C. to the front brakes made a world of difference.
