A newbe with yet another barn find!

Hi everyone I'm as new a member as you can get, about 4 min. ago!
I want to bring this beast back to life, but I do not have the title yet, the guy has to find it, but I know and feel sure he will come through.
I need to ID the year, he thinks its a 73, but it has mag wheels sl I do not think so, I'm thinking a 75 or 76.
Can you help me with the numbers??

frame# Z1F 01293

Yup, its a 1973 Z1 900 ( www.zedder.com/Info/73%20Z1%20900.htm ). Great score!!! If the guy can't come up with the title, you can go to DMV and apply for one. Not sure what you have to do in Florida, but you will for sure need to have someone at the DMV (trailer it there) or maybe an officer come out and confirm the serial numbers and give you a document to show the serial numbers have been checked out. It helps if the person on the current tilte is the same guy you are purchasing it from. But you will need a bill of sale. You don't have to get plates at that time, you can do that once the bike is ready for the road. No sense in paying for plates when you may never use them for that year. If you want full value from this bike you should restore it to original (or close to original) condition. These 73's are worth some money. More than most all the other year Z1's. Hope your not teasing us! If them #'s are correct it is the first batch of Sept. 1972 bikes.
And then hope them mags are Lester or Morris period pieces.
If that is a true early one. Check the back of the carbs. There should be no brace going down the back side. And if the fork legs are original, they will have a defined squareness to them at the reflector boss, not rounded out smooth.
These should be your first pictures to take, carbs and lower fork legs were the reflectors are.
And definitlly find that title!!
Pictures will tell the story, if it is original or all hacked up in hybrid form.
The frame and empty engine case are worth the price of 3 KZ's.
According to the last 2 that were parted out on ebay.
It is amazing how these bikes keep popping up!

Lucky dog! The only things I ever find in barns are old tractors, yellow jackets, and rattlesnakes.

Yes, that's a beauty find!! :woohoo: :woohoo: Welcome indeed!!

The only thing I ever bring home from a trip to a barn is usually stuck to the bottom of my boot!! :laugh:

OK the carbs have no bracket behind them, and they are Mikuni's.
The reflectors on the fork legs are round just below the dust covers on the sliders.
Bike seems to be stock except for the 4 into 1 header and 4 cone style air cleaners.
Kick start is missing,(like you could really kick start this thing!)

Do we have any members that go through and set up the carbs? I'm been on dirt bikes since I was 13 I'm 53 now but this is my first time with a big goar street bike.

Can't wait to see some pics, great find.....

gmhitec, be sure you take some picture of right where its sits now. That is the only regret I have for my build thread, I didn't take any pictures of the bike showing the conditions I found the bike in at the PO's residence.
