Just a little about my project
it has been sitting out side under a lite cover for close to 4 years. when i aquired the bike was going to part it out, but after looking it over and my weak side taking affect.i made the dicision to ry to bring it back from the dead!
1 drained the oil, didnt look bad.
2 removed the plugs and looked in the cylinders with a bore scope again no rust not bad!
3 Removed the frozen chain. front sprocket is toast.
4 removed the carbs. and looked in the float bowls. they were full of trash and spiders (wow) never expected that!
5 i put new oil filter and fresh oil in and installed a temp oil press ure gauge i roled the enging with kick start a fer times. it rolled over easy. With fresh battery cranked it till oil pressure was about 4 to 6 psi amazingly the oil light worked and it whent out indicating oil pressure was ok.
6 did a cold compression check, 1 was 130 + - a few pounds 2 3 and 4 was real close. put some lite oil in cylinders re did check no real increase in readings.
7 inspected carb holders they were very hard and all kind of cracks on the inside even one of the vaccume ports came right out , ordered new holders and screws and clamps.
8 about 10 hours of carb cleaning, using carb dip and 6 cans of carb spray cleaner and compressed air, a bunch of new parts it had 105 main jets didnt find ant marks on pilots every thing back together with new cables.
9 with my small IV fuel supply i checked the float level with a clear tube, they were close did lower the level in #2 carb it was high a little above the bowl rim.
10 started it up and it ran fairly well, let it warm up and set the idle, and synced the carbs with vaccume gauges they were not to bad.
11 did a hot compression check, as i had the plugs out to look at them, all 4 cylinders were over 140 but close in readings. that made my day!!!! just to hear it run again was so cool
12 had about 20 to 30 min of run time, felt it would be best to change oil, it having sat for so long, oil that was drained out this time was put in clear glass bottle and inspected for particales. none found! nice
13 fresh oil , and restars this time checked the electral side it was charging fine about 14.2 volts at 2000 rpm.
Ok i know it going to cost way more than it will ever be worth. they made thousands of this model.
up coming
rebuild brake system.
new sprockets and chain ( 630 or 530? ) need to think on this
new tires
clean all the elect connections. (trying to find small wire brush that will fit in female side of connections)
it will need new tank as it is rusted out pin holdes every where
speedo is showing 17K
i will still check valve cleareances.
well enough for now will up date when some more is done

Hello every one
today
new carb. holders installed, re synced the carbs. still a little sneezy every once in a while, probley the missing airbox to carb boots. checked the ign advance with timing light, been trying to find info on the coils that r on bike.
they r andrews products. spoke with there techs found they were produced in the 80s and r 3 ohm units. guess there keepers. still trying to decide color for bike.(keep it org or some thing else) thinking a GM color Indigo pearl metalic with the orig decals and badges?
any imput on chains ie 530s or the orig. 630 units?
going throught the wiring harness now cleaning each conector and putting procetor paste on them. did find two wires worn through one in headlight bucket and one where main harness passes by frame neck. used heat shrink fixed them better than new.
need to find head light glass this ones cracked letting water in.
thinking about polishing switch boxes on handlebars?
also need speed o meter cable or just the insert, cable case looks good.
