And the KZ gods smile upon me for my patience and faith in these troubled times :woohoo: My stem seal showed up a couple hours after I picked up my bottom triple clamp :P After installing the bearings and races I bolted the triples on and slipped in the fork tubes

So NOW, finally I have a roller :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
I also got a box from bike bandit with some OEM specific hardware I needed for the rear suspension and the rearsets :) All is well again :P

I'm sure everyone is DYING to know just how much hight I lost in the front end, right? Before I disassembled the bike competely I took 2 measurements from the ground to a reference point on the frame. The first measurement was from the ground to the bottom of the engine cradle/frame tubes. This was done without the engine and the suspension was unloaded, and was 9.5". I also measured from the ground to the top of the steering stem. Since the stem is at an angle, I measured at the back, lowest point of the stem. This measured 38.875".

With the GSXR forks mounted and the suspension unloaded, both measurements were 1" less. So I guess I got away with a net loss of 1" of ride hight

Thank you for all your hard work Ben. The triples look sweet and I only lost 1" of ride hight. Now if I can just get my tig welder back so that I can finish up my frame. Then we'll be looking at the battery box and electrical mounting.

Congratulations on getting to a real roller! The front end looks awesome, and I can't wait to see a good daytime picture. Hint, hint.

Thanks for posting those height measurements. That is another thing that I forgot to get. I had to go quickly measure the bottom frame tube to floor height. I got 8" but of course, my bike is at it's dry weight plus oil. I bet you settle another half inch or so when you drop that engine in there. I thought that I read somewhere that a 1" drop in the front will improve the handling of a KZ1000.

Thanks Josh; I will glad accept your congratulations! No doubt it will drop with the addition of the engine (and rider). The important point was the apples to apples measurements. I am glad I had the foresight to take those measurements before I completely stripped the stock parts.

Something else that was interesting.....My wheelbase is now 1" SHORTER than it was before. I wonder if the front will be more apt to come up :woohoo:

I'll get a daytime pic Sat. I'm pretty certain I'm going to be at work from dark to dark tomorrow.
