New Project

This is the whole reason I found this forum. I got this bike for free they guy said he hadn't run it in 2 years and was going to sell it for scrap but if I wanted it I could have it just get it out of his yard. I brought the bike home cleaned the carbs cleaned the gas tank and put new gas in and it has been running since. I plan on trying to restore to original or as close as I can any suggestions would be greatly appreciated this is my first ever project bike. Thanks

Not sure on the miles its reading about 60k but not surethat is correct. The seat is is excellent shape no tears or holes. The paint on the other hand has issues. whoever painted it used spray paint over the original with no primer and left all the stickers and stripes on and just painted over them so i have to strip and repaint. Any suggestions on where I can find a set of the original stickers and decals for it? The only issues that the bike has that are going to give me problems are tank has some rust damage on the corners and I can't find a tank around here and the gages need to be replaced they leak bad from a small crack. The only gage set I have found was on ebay for $285 thats just not going to happen on my budget lol. I will be posting pics as I make improvements.

im sorry, for some reason i thought yours was a 400 haha, thats probly cause i read your thread at 3 am. i dont know if it will work, but im sure someone on here will know right off the top of their heads

For your decals if your on a budget you can go to a shop that makes decals for cars and vans and such, look at thier stock and find some tape about they same width as the original stripes. Cheap and looks the same as original.
Here is how they looked on my old bike. I think I paid like $10 or so.

OK tore the bike down sanded and primed the parts and sanded and pained the engine and frame so here is where i sit now.
