80 KZ1000 ??

I don't post much so please bare with me.
I just picked up a 80 KZ1000 and you guessed it, it needs some work....
I was thinking of changing out the CV carbs for a set of 26mm carbs I
have hanging around. The cv's seem to be in good shape but we all
know they can be a PAIN in the ----
If you had to make the choice what do you think?
and if you were going to buy a bike like this would it make any
difference to you on witch carbs it had on it.
I think it will be for sale when finished.

I'm not that familiar with the 1000's, but I think 26's are kind of small and might make the bike seem lethargic, especially if perf mods have been done to the engine. :pinch:

The bike is all stock. never bin opened up that I can tell.
Bought it from a guy who didn't have a clue as far as I can tell.
I think they used to put 26's on 1000 in 1976-77? (I'd have to look it up) before CV came out.
I know 28's were only on 73-74 then back to 26's
for the rest.
The way I see it, I may lose a little top end but gain on the bottom end
with much better response. With half the worm up time.
Sorry no pic. Im on a dial up it takes way to looooong 28000bps
Im in northern IL in the sticks
I don't wont to sell it as a parts bike. It's bin neglected not abused
and will make someone a great runner...

What exactly are the cv carbs? Wasn't one of the '80 models fuel injected? h1?
The FI KZ1000 was the 1980 G model (the rest of the world got the H model). CV carbs = Constant Velocity carbs...a fundamental design difference compared to slide carbs
