So did you get it? It's only money and a little hard work if you run into problems down the line.
For a starting price of 800 dollars you can afford to put in another 800 dollars and you should be able to keep that bike running for another 10 years or so if you can do all your own work.
Tires are probably a huge up front cost if needed. Expect to pay around $200 for cheap tires installed. Fork seals will be around $85 a piece at a shop. Finally an oil and filter change will run about $25 bucks.

thanks for the warm reception yall, i appreciate it. the guy finally got back to me and im gonna go check it out tomorrow morning. Gringo, what tipped you off that it was an 81 rather than an 80?
The paint job mainly, the 1980 models were burgundy with gold stripes and that looks to be a factory paint job. Also I own a couple of 81's. The rear shocks look to be of later vintage though maybe 82 or 83.
