Hello all!

I'm so excited to be here!  I just purchased a beautiful KZ900 ltd, with quite a low VIN to boot- one of the first 100!  I have a number of old Hondas and recently sold my only Kawi ( 74' G5 100 ), and was so pumped to add this beautiful KZ to my collection just earlier today.  It's a bike that's likely to have a place in my stable for as long as possible. It's been in long term storage under cover, tank empty (nice and shiny metal inside, no rust), although the throttle is stuck so fuel was not drained properly from the carbs before storage.  It appears to be well taken care of all it's nearly 50 years.  The chrome is about a 9.5/10, with the only real pitting on small areas of the exhaust such as close to the hangers, etc..  Should clean up fine.  I can't wait to get this thing road worthy again and ride to a bike night, hopefully yet this fall before colder weather sets in!  I have a busy and young family with sports and such so my time in the garage is limited.  Perhaps that bike night will need to wait until spring, but we'll see!

I'm likely to have some questions as I get into it, but this site has already proven so helpful as I was looking to purchase the KZ and doing my research.  Once the sale was sealed, I created an account to officially join you all.  More to come as I get my first couple posts approved and can freely chat with you all.

All the best,
Andy

    Welcome from a fellow Minnesotan!
Hey sweet!  Do you ever get to any of the bike nights around town?  Forgotten Star perhaps (first Tuesdays of the month).  Moon Motorsports has a vintage bike day coming up on the 24th that I plan to attend for the first half..  I enjoy meeting and chatting with fellow enthusiasts.  Cheers!

Congratulations, Very Nice example!! Just restored one of those 76 LTD900's. A Friend that has owned a successful car repair business for years brought it to me. It was his Dad's that lived up in North Dakota. His dad loaned it out to one of his friends back in the early 80's and he'd clipped a guardrail ripping off the whole stator cover, breaking the crankshaft, tweaking the frame. Bike just sat for over 30+years in that state. Well fast foreword, his Dad passed away so we redid it as a Memorial to his Father. Still can't quite figure why these have never gained the Fame like the Z1's, so many unique "firsts", features and low production count?? Anyway, carbs not a problem, that's the easy part. You are starting off with everything intact!!

Welcome to our little corner of interwebs motorcycle madness.

Nice LTD!  Curious to see more detailed pics.  They're becoming much more sought after.  The Japanese brokers at Mid-Ohio have been asking us if we have any the past few years.

Great looking first year LTD and welcome to KZR ! with the low production numbers and after almost fifty years there can't be many of these bikes left.
I have the same bike that I bought in 1977 when I was nineteen years old, it has a few battle scars that I wear like a badge of honor.

If it's been sitting for years it's a good idea to go thru the brakes completely.
